So, a little while ago I got the idea that it would be fun to make a vegetable garden, since we finally have a back yard to put one in! I got online and started doing a little research, and I used this website http://www.smartgardener.com/ to help me plan it all out. I got Travis on board and we got to work! This is our first attempt at growing our own veggies!
I wanted to do a raised garden bed, and we were going to have two 8'x3' boxes. The boards we ended up getting were 6' long though, and it was after we dug up the grass, so we decided to just make one big 18'x3' box instead.

A big thank you to my sweet hubby Travis, who supports me in all of my crazy ideas and did most of the work. We built this the first weekend in May. Next year we should start planting earlier! We ended up planting strawberries, romaine lettuce, onions, spinach, two types of tomatoes, peas, and beans. So far we have 7 bean, 7 spinach, and 3 pea plants sprouting. We had an unfortunate incident with a burst hose that drowned the strawberry and romaine areas, so I am not getting my hopes up for those. Hopefully the rest goes well though!
Great Job guys!
ReplyDeleteKuddos to you two. Nice job! Anxious to see the food pop up from the ground. All good stuff, organic, fresh, yummy for the tummy. Keep up the good works!
