June Pics

This was a fun month for Trav and I. I don't feel like writing much right now, so I'll just share some pictures with you. These first ones are from our trip to the zoo with Justin, Lisa, and Ella.

Dance Off

Back in April, Trav's cousin Megan Joy did a concert here in Provo at the Riverwoods outdoor shopping center. She sang a bunch of her songs, which were awesome! She is coming out with an album this summer and we are looking forward to it.
Isn't she gorgeous?

After she sang, they had some people from the crowd doing dance competitions for prizes. This one girl volunteered and they were trying to find someone to compete against her. They tried picking people out of the crowd but they all said no. The girl started looking pretty bummed and we both felt kinda bad for her, so I told Trav that he should do it, and to my semi-surprise, he did! Luckily I had my camera with me and was able to capture the moment on video for you all. I like how Travis doesn't mind doing silly things at his own expense to help out others. :)

Afterwords when Trav and Justin were walking around to find us a restaurant for lunch, someone chased down Travis and gave him a gift certificate to a girly boutique as his prize for participating, which he then passed on to me. Sweet!

Mama Mia!

A while ago Trav and I decided to make our own pizza at home for dinner. We went to Winco and got some pizza dough, sauce and toppings. We had one round pan but we had two pizzas we wanted to bake at the same time. We didn't have a pizza stone, so Trav called his dad and asked him what the best way to bake a pizza was. He told us to just put it on the rack in the oven. However, he thought that we were baking a frozen pizza... and this is what happened:

Top: How NOT to bake pizza. Bottom: How to bake pizza.

The pizza dough drooped down between the cracks and as it baked, it actually baked around the wires on the rack. We had to pull the whole rack out and then cut the pizza off of it! Thankfully, we now have a pizza stone that Trav's parents lent us (thanks!) so hopefully there will be no more droopy pizzas in our future.

Disneyland!!!

A few weeks ago, we decided that since we had a long weekend we would go down to visit my brother Robbie and his family in California. They had this great idea that we should go to Disneyland while we were there, so that's what we did, and it was WAY fun.

Vegas, baby!

As the holiday madness started winding down, Trav and I decided it was time to take a little weekend getaway to celebrate the coming of the new year. We both got bonuses from work, so we thought it would be fun to go spend a couple of days in Las Vegas. We booked our hotels a few days before, which was not a good idea, because if you want to stay anywhere near The Strip on New Year's Eve and not have to pay tons of money and struggle to find anything that's not totally booked, you have to reserve your hotel at least a month or two in advance. We ended up staying in Henderson, which is about 15 minutes or so away from the strip.

When we got to our hotel room Friday afternoon and turned on the TV, we saw a clip on the news about the preparations they were making for the celebration that night. It wasn't until then that we learned that we had chosen to go to what was actually the largest new year's celebration in the world! We hurried to our car, drove to the strip, and managed to find a parking spot just before they closed down the roads to traffic.

We still had 7 hours to kill before midnight, so we wandered the strip and explored the different casinos for a while. It was fun just walking around and seeing all the sights, even though it was a lot colder outside than I expected. No wonder they said it was the world's largest, because it was packed with people! And we definitely saw a fair share of interesting intoxicated people. There were tons of cops everywhere though, and Travis is pretty well trained at throwing people to the ground, so I felt pretty safe.

Paris!

This is the castle that Travis took me to dinner at the first time we went to Vegas before we were married, over two years ago.

Our hotel the 2nd night had a sweet casino on the bottom floor, as well as a bunch of restaurants.

At midnight we went outside and they showed a countdown on a bunch of the big screens. When they reached zero, fireworks were set off from the roofs of five different hotels along the Strip. It was pretty neat!

On Saturday we slept in and went to a big outdoor mall next to the strip. We spent several hours there and still only saw about half of it! I got some new clothes and we walked around and got some really delicious frozen yogurt. There was also a theater there, and we went to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 3D. What a fun trip!

Travis and I had a lot of fun last year making our families do the Monster Mash, and we decided to continue the fun this year with the Monster Rap. Enjoy!
